Yarns designed for hand-knitted bags have specific features that contribute to the creation of a stable knitwork, when combined with suitable stitches and the stages that are performed after knitting (like lining, re-inforcement etc.) They can be divided into thress groups, cords, fabric tapes (fettucce), and raphia.
- Cords are i-cord or flat knitted yarn, usually between 2 and 3mm.
- Fabric tapes are made from t-shirt yarn (noodle), as well as lighter fabric such as tulle or elastine.
- Raphia-type yarns are usually made of viscose, but also of paper pulp and viscose mixes such as viscose and polyester.
